Artist's Description
The courtyard at Mission San Xavier del Bac is a peaceful setting, with the soft sounds of the fountain and rustling of the leaves adding to the tranquility.
Mission San Xavier del Bac was finished in 1797 and is the oldest European structure in Arizona. Located just south of Tucson in the Tohono O'odham San Xavier Indian Reservation, the mission has served as a community and spiritual center for the Tohono O'odham people and has drawn thousands of pilgrims yearly that come to pray to Saint Francis Xavier. The San Xavier mission was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960.

About Ed Gleichman

I've been a photographer most of my life, starting very young with a Kodak Instamatic camera. There were a few others over some years and in my mid-twenties a Canon EOS 630 (film camera) which I used extensively. Then I quit for a while. Can't say I know why, life happens. Some years ago I decided I would commit to what I knew had long been an important part of my life. It has been good in many ways, mostly because it lets me see the world around me as a place to enjoy and share. There is much that goes on around us that is negative and depressing, to say the least. It lifts my spirits to find other views that show there is much to be grateful for and much that others might find inspiring although they might never get the chance to see...

Thanks again Robert, this was a very good trip and had quite a few opportunities for good photos, there's much to see in Arizona. I appreciate these comments very much, regards, Ed
